About Airplane Mode
Introducing Airplane Mode, a new monthly evening series at Wylde Center’s Oakhurst Garden.
Once a month, we invite you to turn on airplane mode on your phone and step into a night of hands-on making, slow activities, and creative exploration in the garden.
Admission is free, and guests are welcome to explore self-guided stations throughout the evening—including puzzles, coloring, letter writing, and other creative activities—at their own pace. Each month also features an optional ticketed workshop led by a local artist or maker for those who want to learn a new skill and create something to take home.
Every Airplane Mode is inspired by a new seasonal theme, bringing fresh creative experiences while keeping the same spirit of slowing down, making with your hands, and connecting with community.
Feel free to bring your favorite snacks and beverages!
Join us for our September Airplane Mode on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00 pm!
This September, Airplane Mode invites you to slow down and pay attention to the changing season. Field Notes is an evening of noticing, observing, and creatively documenting the world around us.
Inspired by the tradition of keeping a nature journal, this month’s theme encourages you to take a closer look at the plants, textures, colors, and small details of the garden. Whether you’re sketching, writing, collecting observations, or simply taking time to notice what’s around you, Field Notes is an invitation to slow down and see the season a little differently.
As always, admission to Airplane Mode is free, with self-guided activities to enjoy throughout the evening and an optional ticketed workshop for those who want to learn something new.
