Seed and Scion

Wylde Center’s 2024 Seed and Scion Exchange will take place on February 25, 2024, 2-4 PM. This year’s event will be held at the dairy barn at Legacy Park, 500 S Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA.
Guests will have the opportunity to exchange seeds, chat with other seed savers, and learn unique propagation and sowing methods. The Seed and Scion Exchange will feature education sessions in grafting, division, water propagation, and live staking. We will even teach you how to make a seed bomb!
Each guest will go home with 10 seed packets of their choice as well as other plant material from the education sessions of the event.
Event partners:
Destination Books: This “pop-up” bookstore will have a variety of unique gardening and sustainability books available for purchase at the event.
Community Farmers Market: Market reps will be at the event with information coupons to CFM.
The Atlanta Fruits Club: This informal community has an interest in growing fruit in Atlanta and the surrounding area as a hobby. Members of the club will be at the event to share information and a variety of cuttings and scions including pear, persimmon and fig.
Global Growers: Global Growers Network (GGN) is a network of 200+ New American, immigrant and American-born BIPOC farmers and gardeners. A GGN staff member will be at the event with information about our programs, and our garden and farm locations.
Sustenance Design: Sustenance Design is an Atlanta based landscape design firm focused on designing and supporting healthy, resilient landscapes that engage people with nature. Lindsey Mann, owner and founder of Sustenance Design, will be showing guests how to propagate plants through live staking.
Location:
The event will be at the old dairy barn at Decatur Legacy Park. The barn is located in front of the pond. The trail to the barn is uneven and can be muddy, so please wear appropriate footwear for a short walk. Everyone is welcome at this event. Transportation accommodations are available upon request. Admission to the event:
10 seed packets (packets need not be full/unopened or commercially sold), cuttings or scions. We love seeds saved from your garden!
